A Thank You Gift from The STUFF Sisters
Thank you so much for shopping at our small store. Every visit, order, and kind word truly means the world to us. We’re so grateful to have you as part of our STUFF family.

Gifting is one of life's greatest pleasures—a moment where thoughtfulness takes tangible form and connection deepens through the simple act of giving. There's something magical about finding just the right thing for someone; whether it's a carefully chosen object that speaks to their passions, a handmade treasure that carries the warmth of human hands, or an experience that creates lasting memories. The joy isn't in the price tag or the grandeur; it's in the attention paid, the care taken, and the message sent. It silently says: I see you, I know you, I celebrate you. When we give, we're not just passing along an item, we're sharing a piece of ourselves, and building bridges of appreciation and love.
Perhaps the greatest gift, in return, of all is witnessing that spark of delight in someone's eyes, that moment when they feel truly seen and valued. In a world that often moves too fast, gifting slows us down and reminds us what matters most: the people we cherish and the connections we nurture.
That is why we source gifts from artists, makers, and creators we work with EVERY day to gift to YOU!
Our current gift is a leather crossbody bag in sky-blue leather - valued at $74 - that feels as fantastic as it looks. It features an adjustable strap for the perfect fit and multiple pockets to keep your everyday essentials organized and easy to grab. It’s a beautiful, yet practical piece you’ll reach for again and again.
It is free with any purchase of $96+ in our shop or from our online store*.
Why do we give gifts?
These thank-you gifts are our way of showing appreciation to YOU! When you choose our shop and help keep small businesses thriving, you are also supporting the small-batch artists, makers, and creators we’re proud to carry. We don’t take that support for granted and we thank you for being part of what makes our shop so special.
Stop in or shop online and claim your gift with your next purchase. We'd love to see you again soon. Thank you again for your support and for "shopping small".
See you at the shop...
Casey & Sloane - The STUFF Sisters
*Online orders that qualify for our Thank You Gift will have your gift automatically included with your order.

We choose to work with artists, creators, and makers who share our commitment to sustainability. These talented individuals use eco-friendly materials, repurpose what already exists, and craft in small batches to reduce waste. Their work reflects a deep respect for the environment — and for the people who live in it.
At A STORE NAMED STUFF, every piece on our shelves tells a story — not just of creativity, but of care. As The STUFF Sisters, our mission has always been to connect people through art, beauty, and community. That connection extends to the planet we all share.
By curating collections from makers who prioritize renewable resources, mindful production, and lasting quality, we help ensure that beauty doesn’t come at the expense of the earth. Together, we’re proving that creativity and sustainability can thrive side by side — and that the things we love most can also help sustain the world we live in.

The STUFF Sisters Champion Local Art for a Cause: Supporting The Women’s Employment Network
The STUFF Sisters, celebrated for their dedication to creativity, community, and philanthropy, have once again combined art and purpose in a meaningful way. This year, they proudly sponsored a local woman artist to create 90 original ceramic centerpiece vases for a charity event benefiting The Women’s Employment Network (WEN) of Kansas City.

Empowering Women Through Art and Opportunity
The Women’s Employment Network has long been a cornerstone of empowerment in Kansas City, helping women achieve economic independence through career development, financial education, and personal growth programs. The STUFF Sisters’ sponsorship reflects their shared belief in the power of women supporting women - especially through creative collaboration.
By commissioning a local ceramic artist, the sisters not only provided a platform for artistic expression but also ensured that the event’s décor carried a deeper message of empowerment and community connection. Each vase, handcrafted with care and individuality, symbolized the strength, resilience, and beauty of women working together toward shared success.
Art with Purpose
The 90 ceramic vases served as both stunning centerpieces and lasting reminders of the event’s mission. Guests were invited to take the vases home - for a donation directly to WEN - extending the spirit of giving beyond the luncheon itself.
The STUFF Sisters’ decision to sponsor this project highlights their ongoing commitment to supporting local artists and meaningful causes. Their approach transforms art into action, ensuring that creativity continues to uplift and inspire.
A Celebration of Community
The charity event brought together supporters, advocates, and community leaders who share a vision of empowerment and opportunity for women. Through their sponsorship, The STUFF Sisters reaffirmed their belief that when women invest in one another, extraordinary things happen. Their partnership with The Women’s Employment Network and a talented local artist stands as a testament to the transformative power of creativity, generosity, and shared purpose in Kansas City.

The STUFF Sisters Celebrate History at “Wild About Harry” in Kansas City
The STUFF Sisters, known for their passion not only for art and creativity, but for community and non-profit fundraising, recently attended the annual Wild About Harry event in Kansas City, Missouri. This event was in support of the Harry S. Truman Library Museum & Institute, honoring the legacy of the 33rd President of the United States while raising funds for educational programs and historical preservation.

A Night of History and Heart
Wild About Harry brings together civic leaders, historians, and community supporters for an evening of inspiration and generosity. The event highlights President Truman’s enduring impact on American democracy and global leadership, while also showcasing the library’s ongoing efforts to engage new generations in American history and democracy.
The STUFF Sisters joined fellow Kansas Citians in celebrating Truman’s legacy, reflecting their shared commitment to community enrichment and cultural preservation. This event underscored the importance of supporting institutions that keep history alive and accessible.
Supporting the Truman Library’s Mission
Proceeds from Wild About Harry directly benefit the Truman Library Institute’s educational initiatives, including student programs, museum exhibits, and research grants. These efforts ensure that Truman’s values - integrity, courage, and service - continue to inspire future leaders.
The STUFF Sisters, long-time advocates for local causes, were proud to stand among those championing this mission. Their participation reflects their belief that investing in history strengthens the foundation of community identity and civic pride. Sloane and Casey - The STUFF Sisters - thank KCUR 89.3 for having them as their guests.

We were raised by strong women.
One great-grandmother, our grandmothers, and our mother - along with the greater community of women they surrounded themselves with - gave us front row seats to the true power of women. Our mother repeatedly played Helen Reddy's "I am Woman" as our family anthem. As children, we really liked the second line of the song, "hear me roar". Imagine that.

We were raised in a culture of women being seen and heard, to recognizing their unique contributions to the world. We stood witness to greatness every day. They all modeled how to "take up space". How to be unapologetically authentic. Some were quieter than others, and some were visibly bolder; each had a deep impact on us.
Our great-grandmother was a leader on a large family-owned farm. She was hands-on every day, side-by-side with the men. Our grandmother on our father's side did the same on the farm she built with our grandfather, but she also ran her own small businesses by creating handmade goods and by rising through the ranks to a become a national sales leader for Tupperware. Our grandmother on our mother's side had a professional career in law offices that lead to her being front and center in the Missouri State Governor's office.
Our mother started early in the civil rights and women's right movements. Those efforts led to her co-creating a women-owned consulting firm of which she later became sole owner. That company went on to represent clients all over the United States. She was admired far and wide for her fierce, tireless, and passionate professionalism. She took on seemingly impossible projects that others wouldn't touch and racked up success after success. She was admired and often recognized for her leadership. She did all of this while raising three daughters to be strong, resilient, principled, and hard-working.

They were mighty. Lillian Simmons, Virginia Simmons, Gladys Price, and Cathryn Simmons. Together, they endowed us with the skills to surround ourselves with amazing women. We are abundantly fortunate. We can still hear them all both whisper and roar at us.
We live in a challenging, devastating, beautiful, glorious world. We believe women are at the very heart of creating a future we can all thrive in. Women have always been powerful agents of change, transforming what success looks like. As the world celebrates International Women's Day on March 8th, let us all thank the women that came before us, recommit to standing beside the women that are doing the hard work today, and be ready to mentor the next generation of women leaders and changemakers.
We are women, hear us roar!

The STUFF Sisters Love Letter:
LOVE
Love is powerful.
Love is healing.
Love is kind.
Love is patient.
Love is for EVERYONE!
We were raised in a family where everyone was included on Valentine's Day. Our father always showed up with flowers and treats for his three daughters. Our mother always gave us artistic and creative gifts at dinner. Even the dogs and cats got extra treats.
When we had our own children, we all gathered together for heart-shaped pizzas at Minsky's, a pizza joint a handful of blocks from our childhood home. We all brought small gifts for each other. Tokens, really. We loved every minute of these family gatherings.
We miss them. We miss our children who live on opposite coasts now. We miss our parents, both lost to cancer. We miss the dinners, the laughter, the hugs, and the overflowing love.
We have always channeled our family's traditions into our small business. Creating new ways to celebrate with our team and our customers. These shared customs are deeply rooted in our own life experiences... get togethers that gave us boundless joy and connection throughout our lives.
The world can weigh heavy on our hearts at times. We, too, have challenging days. We try very hard to listen and hold space for our visitors. You honor us with your stories - the good, the bad, and the ugly. We are humbled by your honesty, your vulnerability, and your generosity. In return, you have helped us when the days were long or hard. It is this exchange of humanity that inspires us every day.

Today is a good day to spread love like confetti. So is tomorrow. And, the day after that...
Valentine's Day is just a grand reminder that sharing gestures, gifts, and acts of love is always a good idea. These seemingly simple actions can lift someone up more than you will ever really know. It's the little stuff, after all.
We will continue to find ways to carry on our family's belief that this quirky holiday - dedicated to love - is for ALL. We will remember that love is very powerful and it has no limits.
We wish you abundant love and connection this Valentine's Day...
... and every day that follows.

The STUFF Sisters Spotted in NYC
For Christmas Sloane gave Casey a weekend trip to New York City to see Luna Luna, an art exhibit at The Shed Museum. Weather postponed the trip to March, but it did not dampen any excitement they both felt for being in a city they love.
They didn't stop with Luna Luna. They stuffed the trip with culturally diverse food, self-created walking tours, a show on Broadway, seeing Casey's daughter, shopping at small shops (of course), and even more food. We promise to share some more detailed stories from the trip in the coming months.
In the meantime, check out Luna Luna here. If you have a chance to see this show, go! It got a 5 star rating from The STUFF Sisters.

To Our STUFF Family...
So, here we all are, over a full month into a new year. A year that promises to be a rollercoaster ride.
First, let's speak of the elephant in the room. The political elephant. Like you, we are feeling and witnessing the chaos in our country and beyond. It is disruptive and we are all dealing with a lot of unknowns. This environment can cause anxiety and extreme emotions internally and externally for many of us. Nervous systems are in overdrive and it is terrible for health and well-being.
Our store's history is proof that being small can also mean mighty. We chose to center our small business around small, but thoughtful actions. We have been consistent and unwavering in our commitment to our community and the world. Our core values and mission remain the same. We represent diverse and colorful artists, makers, and creators. We welcome our customers into a creative, joyful, and inspiring experience. Our store is a space for all people, ideas, and artistic expression. We source the best "stuff" made in thoughtful, meaningful, and caring ways.
We have always been fully engaged in our beloved community through outreach and giving back to others using our time, talent, resources. We will continue.
We emphatically believe that human rights are not political. We believe in equality, equity, freedom, and dignity. As part of our "STUFF Family", you have already seen this artwork many times. We have published it countless times over the many, many years we have been in business. The battle for these rights did not begin today. You can be assured it will not end today. The fight will continue until true freedom is realized... for ALL.
We - The STUFF Sisters - will continue to stay the course. As always, we will do our absolute best to weather the storms, whatever they may be. We lead with love. We offer safe spaces. We strive to create joy. We promise that these - along with our guiding principles - will never change.
We hope you will choose to shop at our store and support our small business when you can. We also hope you will seek out other businesses - big and small - that share your vision for the world you want to live in.
As small as all of these choices may seem, they are mighty.
Casey & Sloane
The STUFF Sisters

A STORE NAMED STUFF believes is doing everything we can to reduce our impact on Mother Earth. We reduce, reuse, repurpose, and recycle everything we possibly can.

A STORE NAMED STUFF believes is doing everything we can to reduce our impact on Mother Earth. We reduce, reuse, repurpose, and recycle everything we possibly can. We source post-consumer recycled boxes, gift wrapping materials, and supplies.
That includes thoughtfully disposing of any INCOMING shipping materials that cannot be re-used at the shop. We have recycling bins behind the store and across the street for many recyclable items. Batteries, Styrofoam and plastic bags, just to name a few, have to be delivered to specialty recyclers.
Like Styrofoam: Sloane loads it all into her hatchback and personally delivers load-after-load to specialty recycler in Kansas City, Kansas.
Like plastic wrap and bags: The plastic bags - many types - are currently being donated to the T-Mobile Center in downtown Kansas City. Their teams are doing a recycling challenge with NexTrex to create a bench made from 1,000+ POUNDS of plastic bags. Teamwork makes the dream work!
When you shop online at A STORE NAMED STUFF this flyer (below) will be in your box.
We have ONE EARTH, that is why we go the extra mile to reduce, reuse, repurpose, and recycle every day.

Old World Christmas has created original ornaments since 1979 using age-old techniques. Each figurative glass ornament produced is hand crafted using the same techniques that originated in the 1800's. Molten glass is mouth-blown into finely carved molds designed exclusively for Old World Christmas. Then a hot solution of liquid silver is poured inside. Once cooled, the ornaments are hand-painted and glittered in a series of labor-intensive steps to achieve their finished beauty.

Old World Christmas is recognized as a leader in design, with the most extensive blown-glass ornament collection in the industry.
We are proud to have an impressive collection of these beautiful, hand-crafted, playful, memorable ornaments in our store today. We began the year with over 1,800 ornaments available at our store and in our webstore. Every year, limited edition designs sellout quickly.

Small Business Saturday started as a campaign launched by American Express in 2010, to help small businesses gain exposure and to inspire consumers to shop within their own communities during the holiday season. The following year, the credit card company offered small business owners free personalized ads to spread across the web. A movement had started.
In 2011, the US Senate unanimously passed a resolution to support Small Business Saturday, and the Small Business Administration has co-sponsored the event since 2015.

Today, most Americans know what Small Business Saturday is and, of those who participate, nearly all recognize how important the holiday is to their communities.
Studies prove that small businesses reinvest a significant portion of their revenue in their communities, creating jobs and stimulating economic activity. Small businesses often offer distinctive, locally-sourced, and handcrafted products and services. In addition, small businesses are known for their exceptional customer service.
Small Business Saturday is celebrated annually on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. In 2024, it will be on November 30.
We hope you will join the movement and shop at small businesses, not just on Small Business Saturday, but all season, both in-person and online.
