A STORE NAMED STUFF believes is doing everything we can to reduce our impact on Mother Earth. We reduce, reuse, repurpose, and recycle everything we possibly can.

A STORE NAMED STUFF believes is doing everything we can to reduce our impact on Mother Earth. We reduce, reuse, repurpose, and recycle everything we possibly can. We source post-consumer recycled boxes, gift wrapping materials, and supplies.

That includes thoughtfully disposing of any INCOMING shipping materials that cannot be re-used at the shop. We have recycling bins behind the store and across the street for many recyclable items. Batteries, Styrofoam and plastic bags, just to name a few, have to be delivered to specialty recyclers.

Like Styrofoam: Sloane loads it all into her hatchback and personally delivers load-after-load to specialty recycler in Kansas City, Kansas.

Like plastic wrap and bags: The plastic bags - many types - are currently being donated to the T-Mobile Center in downtown Kansas City. Their teams are doing a recycling challenge with NexTrex to create a bench made from 1,000+ POUNDS of plastic bags. Teamwork makes the dream work!

When you shop online at A STORE NAMED STUFF this flyer (below) will be in your box.

We have ONE EARTH, that is why we go the extra mile to reduce, reuse, repurpose, and recycle every day.

Old World Christmas has created original ornaments since 1979 using age-old techniques. Each figurative glass ornament produced is hand crafted using the same techniques that originated in the 1800's. Molten glass is mouth-blown into finely carved molds designed exclusively for Old World Christmas. Then a hot solution of liquid silver is poured inside. Once cooled, the ornaments are hand-painted and glittered in a series of labor-intensive steps to achieve their finished beauty.

Old World Christmas is recognized as a leader in design, with the most extensive blown-glass ornament collection in the industry.

We are proud to have an impressive collection of these beautiful, hand-crafted, playful, memorable ornaments in our store today. We began the year with over 1,800 ornaments available at our store and in our webstore. Every year, limited edition designs sellout quickly.

Small Business Saturday started as a campaign launched by American Express in 2010, to help small businesses gain exposure and to inspire consumers to shop within their own communities during the holiday season. The following year, the credit card company offered small business owners free personalized ads to spread across the web. A movement had started.

In 2011, the US Senate unanimously passed a resolution to support Small Business Saturday, and the Small Business Administration has co-sponsored the event since 2015.

Today, most Americans know what Small Business Saturday is and, of those who participate, nearly all recognize how important the holiday is to their communities.

Studies prove that small businesses reinvest a significant portion of their revenue in their communities, creating jobs and stimulating economic activity. Small businesses often offer distinctive, locally-sourced, and handcrafted products and services. In addition, small businesses are known for their exceptional customer service.

Small Business Saturday is celebrated annually on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. In 2024, it will be on November 30.

We hope you will join the movement and shop at small businesses, not just on Small Business Saturday, but all season, both in-person and online.

We joyfully donated a bunch of stuff to @amethystplace here in Kansas City a couple weeks ago. Sloane - one of #thestuffsisters - loves to head out-and-about in her "donation wagon".

Amethyst Place is the product of community leaders banding together in 1989 to help single mothers and their children overcome damaging generational cycles of substance use. Due to lack of safe housing after treatment, these women had no choice but to return to the same communities where their substance use began, threatening their recovery and the stability of their families. Founded in May 2000 by task force members, Amethyst Place has filled this gap for over 24 years and has been home to over 384 families, including 742 children.
    .
    .
Their noble cause is to inspire transformational healing and empower generations of women and children to achieve recovery, reunification, and resilience. Through a long-term supportive housing program at 28th and Troost, the help over 150 women and children overcome the interconnected cycles of poverty, trauma, and substance use to achieve multi-generational impact.

Our annual Holiday Open House - Wings of Hope - is not only a celebration to kick-off our holiday season at the shop, but it is a benefit for cancer research. This event has been a tradition for over 25 years at our store. It is a customer favorite and our chance to give you "first pick" of our holiday collections, create a space for you to spend time with friends and family, share and enjoy holiday cheer, and to help set the stage for a vibrant Season of Giving.
     .
15% off all PURCHASES are donated to The Simmons Family Cancer Research Fund. This fund was created in our family's name (in memory of our mother and father). This fully-endowed fund is held at the KU Cancer Center (in the heart of Kansas City) earmarked for research to find cures for all cancers.
     .
Our Annual Wings of Hope Letter:
    .
    Dear Mom & Dad…
    .
We miss you both like crazy. We are continuing to learn how to navigate our lives without you. Not easy. Your grandchildren continue to thrive and evolve, and we continue to find ways to expand our hearts and our minds.
    .
Eddie Feinstein, Tim Lewis, Kathryn Odom, Michael Hopkins… these are just a few of the people who were part of our lives but sadly were lost to cancer this past year. These are the people who are heavy on our hearts as we float into our Wings of Hope weekend in the next few days.
    .
We just finished getting the store prepared. If pure magic were the goal, our amazing and tireless team delivered! We worked side by side and around the clock for over three days to pull off STUFF’s “Christmas Miracle”. These are the days where we re-set the entire store to create a festive and inspiring place to shop for the holidays. These are the days we cherish with our crew.
    .
We continue to honor you both with our endowed fund – The Simmons Family Cancer Research Fund. Its only job is to support the KU Cancer Center’s efforts to find cures for all cancers. We will, as we have done for years and years, donate 15% off all sales - in store and online - during Wings of Hope to that fund.
    .
It seems impossible that a year has passed so quickly since we wrote our last letter to you. It seems unbelievable that you have both been gone for four long years. Please know that we continue to get up, suit up, and show up… every day. Just like our mother and father taught us. Even on the days when our hearts break and our voices quiver. Especially on those days.
    .
If there is a place souls go after life, please find our beloved friends and usher them in with a welcoming embrace.
    .
    We love you.
    We miss you.
    Forever.
    .
    - Casey & Sloane
